The new election for president of the Barcelona club is expected to be held in January and for this three possible dates have been set, after the resignation of Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Elections were scheduled to be held in March next year.

But after the financial problems that have now hit the Catalan club and the January transfer window, the possibility of holding the elections earlier has been considered.

The deadline for submitting candidacies is expected to close soon, with former President Joan Laporata reportedly re-running at the end of this month.

Elections can be held on three dates during January, January 16 and 17, January 23 and 24 or January 30 and 31.

The club is in a difficult financial situation and has recently failed to reach an agreement with its players to reduce salaries, even after numerous meetings again failed to convince them to accept.

The Spanish giant has announced that the pandemic has caused financial losses in the amount of 300 million euros, therefore it had planned to benefit from a reduction of 191 million euros through the reduction of the salaries of its footballers and to pay part of the debt with it.
