Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has successfully operated on a knee injury and will likely miss most of this season’s games, the Reds have announced.
Gomez was injured on Wednesday while training with England before the friendly against the Republic of Ireland on Thursday.
Liverpool have announced that the 23-year-old has successfully operated on a tendon in his left knee.
Gomez joins Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho on the injured list.
“Gomez’s problem with the tendon was isolated, without any damage to the other ligaments.” Liverpool said in a press release.
“No timeline has been set for his return, although this six-figure problem will leave him out for most of this 2020/21 season.” the statement said.
Liverpool has been left with virtually no senior quarterback.
