The Dutch midfielder has not yet signed a new contract with Liverpool and continues to be linked with a possible union with compatriot Ronald Koeman at the “Camp Nou”.
Georginio Wijnaldum has been advised by former Liverpool player Philipp Degen not to leave for more money at Barcelona or Real Madrid.
The Dutch representative is in the reigning champions of the Premier League until the summer of 2021.
He will be a free agent if they do not agree to new terms, with the option for him to enter into talks with clubs that will be interested in him from January.
The La Liga giants want Wijnaldum to sign, as he is very much liked by the Barca coach after he coached him, as he was the coach of the Dutch national team.
Philipp Degen, advised the Dutchman not to follow the path of Emre Can, who left the Italian club Juventus in 2018.
“In football, I always tell every player that of course, after all, you want good money, but in my life, I think a very important part of life is to see not just money, but everything.” declared Degen.
“I do not know if it is just because of the money, but he is in one of the best teams ever. What is the next step? Real Madrid? Or maybe Barcelona? ”
“I do not know but I do not think he will be a star in these teams. If I were him, I would think a lot. We have a very difficult time in this situation we are in and we can’t go to the stadium and see people.”
“I do not know exactly what his status is and why he did not sign, so maybe it’s the money, maybe he wants to move, but if I were in his place, part of this club that won the Champions League and the championship, I would have stayed in Liverpool.” he concluded.
Wijnaldum is one of the key players for Liverpool this season, despite uncertainty about his future.
