Barcelona is ready to continue with the local race where this midweek awaits a difficult trip to Bilbao, where they will face Athletic Cluc, but Ronald Koeman has said that he is also focused on the January deadline, admitting that he has make a list of the weaknesses of some players and those he wants to bring to the club
It is understood that some of these players will be Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay, who were his primary targets even during the summer, although it is still unclear how Los Cules will manage to make transfers due to the economic problems they have.
“I have made a list of the potential weaknesses of some players and players that I think it would be good to transfer,” Koeman told a pre-match press conference.
“Every coach would like to bring someone in January, at a time when the team needs to improve. “I do not make a difference, but it depends on the club.”
Barcelona’s form has been different this season as Koeman is looking for a balanced system, with the former Feyenoord coach remaining convinced he is doing his job properly.
“The team is trying to play the same way regardless at home and abroad,” he added.
“We want to take risks and have the opportunity to score, but as guests we have not had the effectiveness of a team like Barcelona should have.”
“We have also made mistakes in defense, we are a team that creates many chances, but we have a low percentage of conversation on the field.”
One of the best this season was the right defender, Sergino Dest, both in his appearances on the field but also outside it where he has never denied the media even when there have been negative results.
Koeman has been impressed by the American defender but has reaffirmed his belief that there will be ups and downs because he is still a guy with a young age.
“Dest has ups and downs during the game, he has started very well but he is only 19 years old and needs time to adapt,” said Koeman.
“Like any footballer, he has the right to make mistakes and then correct them. I am not disappointed with him because he is young and these things are normal.”
