Lionel Messi is the most important issue of the candidates for the next president of the Catalan club, but the former president of Barcelona, ??Joan Laporta, who is running for president again, says that he will work hard to find the former Messi.
The presidential election will be held on January 24, 2021, and until then the Argentine will not start contacts with any club as his contract expires at the end of the season and he will be free to leave, something he wanted to do even in the summer market.
On Thursday, Carles Tusquets, the chairman of the management committee revealed the club’s finances which were so weak that they should have sold Messi in the summer, however Laporta does not share that opinion.
“Leo wants Barcelona, ??what I want is to bring back his happiness. It’s not just a matter of money, you have to create a competitive team.” Laporta said.
“Leo has been deceived and this is a great loss. He is a winner and he can’t stand other teams winning the Champions League.”
“The last time I spoke to him was in October. I am very grateful to him for everything he has done for Barcelona. I have known him since he was 16 years old and he is an extraordinary person.” he continued.
“There is an appreciation and mutual respect. We have to be inside the club to make him an imaginary and credible proposal.”
Laporta has been one of the candidates who has hinted that they would be interested in bringing Neymar back to Barcelona.
“Leo wants to have a team that brings back the joy.” he added.
“A team like Barcelona needs team spirit in the locker room. I have been president of Barcelona and I do not want to destabilize a team in a delicate situation.”
