Former Barcelona striker Hristo Stoichkov is convinced that Lionel Messi will play at the Camp Nou until the last day of his career as a footballer.
Messi’s contract with Barcelona expires in June and the Argentine will have the right to speak with other clubs from January, amid rumors that he will leave the only club he has played for so far in his career.
Messi made a formal request to leave last summer, but was not allowed by a high clause of 700 million euros.
However, now that Josep Maria Bartomeu has resigned and he and his board no longer lead Barcelona, ??it is said that Messi will stay.
The former Bulgarian striker is of the same opinion.
“I think Messi will retire in Barcelona. There has been a lot of talk about him, but I do not believe even 99.9 percent of what has been said.” Stoichkov told MARCA.
The 1994 Ballon d’Or winner was part of Barcelona from 1990 to 1995 and from 1996 to 1998, winning 13 trophies with the Catalans, including the Champions League once and La Liga five times.
