Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has described his West Brom counterpart Sam Allardyce as a genius coach.

City and West Brom will measure their strength tonight in the Premier League and Guardiola expects his team, which with victory would become the leader of the league, to face a difficult test.

But the difference is that, in this meeting, Allardyce’s team will be looking for points to get out of the relegation zone.

With Allardyce, West Brom have now a coach who is seasoned to fight for survival battles and has now been forced to keep the West Bromwich squad in the Premier League after being named in place of fired Slaven Bilic in December.

Guardiola feels it is difficult to take charge of a team in the middle of the season, adding that he has great admiration for the work that Allardyce has done during his career.

“It is not easy to take on the task of leading a team in the middle of the season, but he did well against teams like Wolves, Liverpool and others,” said Guardiola.

“Sam Allardyce is the genius who takes these teams when everyone thinks everything is over and manages to get results.” he added.
