Luis Suarez continues to captivate his new Atletico Madrid fans after setting a new record with his last-minute winning goal against Alaves, becoming the club’s best player in the 21st century.

The Uruguayan striker ended his career in Barcelona in the summer after six seasons full of trophies, when a surplus was announced in the team of new coach Ronald Koeman.

Atletico quickly brought him to Wanda Metropolitano and Suarez has not lost time to leave marks on Barca rival in La Liga.

He scored in the 90th minute on Sunday, securing Diego Simeone’s 2-1 win over Alaves.

This was his ninth goal for Atletico in the 2020/21 season, which means he is in contention for the golden shoe with Villarreal’s Gerard Moreno and Celta Vigo’s Iago Aspas this season.

In 11 appearances so far for Atletico in the league, Suarez has conceded nine goals and donated two assists, breaking Radamel Falcao’s record for the best start to a career at Atletico this century.
